This role involves learning the government contracting lifecycle, leading capture efforts, and driving strategic growth through aligning our solutions with client needs. Job Summary: The Mid-level Data Engineer will support the Department of Defense (DoD) biosurveillance integration project by leveraging their expertise in data engineering and cloud technologies to enable seamless data management and integration across multiple platforms. This role involves configuring, automating, and managing data ingestion processes for structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data to support analytics and DevOps pipelines. The Data Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to establish and optimize cloud environments, ensuring compliance with security standards while maintaining data integrity and performance. Key Responsibilities: • Configure and ingest designated structured, unstructured, and semi-structured data repositories into systems and platforms that satisfy mission partner requirements. • Maintain operational aspects of data transfers, monitoring system health and ensuring a robust security posture of the underlying infrastructure and applications. • Automate configuration management processes, leverage tools, and stay current on the latest data extract, transfer, and load (ETL) technologies and services. • Review architecture and identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and cost reduction to support overall system health and efficiency. • Design and maintain cloud-based data solutions using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, MilCloud 2.0, or other platforms as required. • Apply DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and automate security compliance processes to ensure adherence to security protocols. • Engage with multiple functional groups to comprehend client challenges, prototype new ideas and technologies, and create data-driven solutions to drive innovation and efficiency. • Design, implement, test, and deploy full features and components of data solutions to support the integration and analysis of biosurveillance data. • Identify and implement scalable and efficient coding solutions to ensure high performance and reliability of data processing operations. Skills/Qualifications: • Must has active DoD SECRET Clearance • Bachelor's degree with 7-10 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 5 years of experience. • Proficiency in working with Big Data systems and ETL processes. • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or MilCloud 2.0. • Familiarity with multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, SQL) for data processing and system automation. • In-depth knowledge of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and automating compliance processes. • Ability to manage cloud-based data environments programmatically using vendor consoles and command-line interfaces. • Previous experience in data engineering or a related role with a focus on data integration, cloud technologies, and automation within a defense or federal government setting. • Proven ability to manage and optimize cloud-based environments for large-scale data processing and analytics.
