Job Title: Systems Administrator Location: Vancouver, Washington (On-Site) Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Compensation: 85-89K per year upon conversion No C2C Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Systems Administrator to join our IT team in a fully on-site role based in Vancouver, Washington. This position is responsible for overseeing the management, maintenance, and performance of both on-premise and remote-hosted systems. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting complex environments, maintaining system availability, and ensuring seamless integration across all platforms. Key Responsibilities • Manage and maintain system infrastructure across physical and virtual environments. • Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server environments, ensuring performance, reliability, and data integrity. • Oversee Azure-based infrastructure and services, including user management, resource provisioning, and configuration. • Monitor system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability. • Perform routine system updates, configurations, and upgrades. Data Center Operations • Oversee day-to-day operations of local data center infrastructure. • Ensure physical hardware, environmental controls, and security protocols are functioning as intended. Security and Compliance • Implement and maintain security protocols across all systems. • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies. • Manage system access controls and perform patch management. Backup and Recovery • Develop and manage backup strategies to protect organizational data. • Create and routinely test disaster recovery procedures to ensure operational continuity. Automation and Efficiency • Develop automated processes to improve system management and operational workflows. • Continuously evaluate and refine administrative tasks for efficiency. Technical Support and Troubleshooting • Provide advanced technical support for system-related issues. • Diagnose and resolve issues affecting system performance and availability. Collaboration and Documentation • Collaborate with internal IT staff and other departments to ensure technology alignment with business needs. • Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for configurations, procedures, and recovery plans. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience. • Minimum 3 years of experience in system administration, with involvement in both on-site and hosted environments. • Extensive experience with Windows operating systems and server management. • Must have Linux administration experience. • Must have hands-on Azure administration experience. • Must have extensive SQL Server experience (installation, configuration, performance tuning, and maintenance). • Strong proficiency in virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V). • Experience in network administration and a solid understanding of security protocols. • Familiarity with system monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, or similar). • Excellent troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation. • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or CompTIA Network+. • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes. • Experience with on-premises to Azure migration is very nice to have. • Experience with Veeam backup solutions is nice to have. • Familiarity with tools such as Sophos, Barramundi, Barracuda (email security), and Arctic Wolf (enterprise security) is nice to have.
