Job Summary (Purpose): As the Senior Analytics Systems Engineer, you will have strong Systems and Data Engineering expertise to design, implement, and maintain our data reporting infrastructure and analytics systems. In this role, you will architect and maintain robust, scalable data solutions while building efficient data pipelines and driving engineering excellence in our analytics environment. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our business intelligence and reporting ecosystem while implementing data engineering best practices. Duties and Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and maintain complex enterprise-level reporting and analytics systems • Architect and deploy scalable data infrastructure for business intelligence and reporting needs • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines to support analytics requirements • Design and implement robust data models optimized for both analytics and operational needs • Build efficient, reliable, and maintainable data processing pipelines • Create data transformation workflows that handle large-scale data processing • Implement automated data quality monitoring and validation systems • Develop data ingestion solutions from various source systems (APIs, databases, file systems) to create unified data repositories • Create self-service reporting capabilities for stakeholders across the organization • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data and reporting system issues • Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand data needs • Ensure security, compliance, and governance of reporting data and systems • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for data flows and reporting systems • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve reporting and analytics capabilities • Participate in on-call rotation for critical reporting and data systems support Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Exceptional problem-solving abilities for complex data engineering and reporting challenges • Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to influence data strategy • Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts to business stakeholders • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into data solutions • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential data quality issues • Experience architecting scalable data solutions that balance performance and cost • Strong documentation skills for data lineage, pipeline architecture, and report specifications • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder expectations • Technical skills and systems expertise for data engineering and warehousing, reporting, database systems, programming and scripting. Education and Experience Required: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or similar reporting/analytics roles Other: Knowledge of data warehouse design and implementation (dimensional modeling, star schema) with experience in at least one of the following products (Snowflake, DataBricks, RedShift) • Strong experience with business intelligence and reporting platforms (QlikView, Qlik Sense, Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar) • Extensive experience with SQL and relational database systems (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle) • Proficiency in ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (Matillion, SSIS, Informatica, Alteryx, or similar) • Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or similar languages for data processing • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, data modeling, and data architecture • Proficiency with cloud-based data processing and analytics services (AWS, Azure, GCP) • Strong understanding of data structures, database design, and data modeling techniques • Experience with stream processing and real-time analytics systems • Solid understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements for analytics • Experience implementing and managing monitoring solutions for data pipelines and reports AmeriGas is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
