Field Network Administrator We’re looking for a sharp, hands-on network professional who loves solving problems in the field — not just from behind a desk. In this role, you’ll help keep systems running smoothly across multiple locations, making sure our teams stay connected and productive. Key Responsibilities: Network Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points. Ensure secure and efficient configuration of network devices to support operations. Regularly monitor network performance and resolve any connectivity issues or bottlenecks. Perform network upgrades and integrate new technologies as required. Desktop Support and Troubleshooting: Provide on-site desktop support to employees, including setting up new workstations, configuring operating systems, and installing required software. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to desktops, laptops, and peripherals (printers, scanners, etc.). Perform operating system upgrades, patches, and system optimizations for desktop systems. Provide assistance with resolving software conflicts and other desktop-related issues IT Support Services: Assist employees with IT-related problems, including network connectivity, email, software installation, and system access issues. Support the installation and configuration of software applications, office suites, and security programs. Respond to IT service tickets and requests, ensuring timely and efficient resolution. Install and configure company-approved software, tools, and applications across desktops and laptops. Handle routine IT maintenance tasks, such as system backups and virus/malware scans on end-user devices. Network Security: Implement security protocols such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems. Conduct regular security audits and updates to ensure network security. Work with management to enforce security policies and best practices. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of network configurations, installations, and troubleshooting activities. Document network diagrams and asset inventories. Provide detailed reports on network health and performance to IT management. Collaboration with IT Teams: Coordinate with internal IT staff or external contractors for large-scale deployments or complex projects. Provide technical guidance to junior team members and help train on-site personnel. Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their network needs and offer on-site support. Provide recommendations for network improvements based on analysis of existing infrastructure. Train end users. Upgrade and Expansion: Plan and execute network upgrades, including hardware replacements and system expansions. Assess the need for additional network resources based on company growth and technological advancements. Skills and Qualifications: • Technical Skills: • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.). • Proficient with network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) and their configuration. • Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools. • Familiarity with cloud-based networks and hybrid environments. • Knowledge of network security principles and technologies (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection). • Troubleshooting Skills: • Strong problem-solving abilities for diagnosing network and desktop-related issues. • Ability to work with remote desktop tools and assist in troubleshooting across geographically dispersed locations. • Capability to handle both hardware and software issues quickly and efficiently. • Communication Skills: • Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical staff or clients in clear, understandable terms. • Strong interpersonal skills for client interaction, especially when offering on-site support. • Strong documentation abilities. Certifications (Preferred): • CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA A+ certification. • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher. • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or similar certifications for network-related technologies. • Security certifications like Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) can be a plus. Experience: • 7+ Proven experience in network administration, desktop support, and IT services. • Experience with network security tools, remote access setups, and endpoint management solutions. • Hands-on experience with system installation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and configuration. Soft Skills: • Excellent communication skills to interact with end-users and IT teams. • Problem-solving ability in high-pressure environments. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. • Customer-oriented mindset, especially in client-facing roles. Work Environment and Travel: • Work at client sites, branch offices, or remote locations, requiring regular travel. • After-hours or on-call shifts depending on the needs of the business. • Lifting and setting up heavy equipment, as well as working in varied environments (e.g., office spaces, data centers, or warehouses).
