Key Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: As a key member of the team, reporting to Manager, Pipeline Engineering, the DevOps Engineer will: • Monitor and Maintain Production Systems: Oversee production environment through comprehensive monitoring, ensuring high availability and system health across all platforms. • Automate Infrastructure Management: Develop systems and software to automate platform infrastructure management, creating sustainable services through continuous improvement. • Support Distributed Applications: Provide primary engineering support for complex, distributed software applications, troubleshooting issues and ensuring reliability. • Optimize System Performance: Collect and analyze metrics from both systems and applications to enhance performance, identify bottlenecks, and resolve faults proactively. • Collaborate on Service Improvements: Work closely with development teams to enhance services through robust testing procedures and streamlined release processes. • Balance Speed and Reliability: Implement well-defined service level objectives that maintain the optimal balance between development velocity and system reliability. • Participate in Technical Planning: Contribute to system design consultations, capacity planning, and platform management decisions. • Drive Innovation: Continuously improve capabilities by anticipating customer needs and implementing forward-thinking solutions. • Enhance Quality and Time-to-Market: Improve overall reliability and quality while reducing time-to-market for the organization's software solutions. • Conduct System Architecture Work: Build and refine the underlying infrastructure that • Willing to participate in on-call rotation in line with the industry practices. Note that this position is overtime-exempt position Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Requirements: • BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent technical/scientific discipline • Demonstrated experience configuring and maintaining build servers (Bamboo/Jenkins) from scratch • Experience implementing cloud automation solutions at scale • 4-6+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps roles • Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, C/C++, Ruby, or JavaScript • Deep knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker) and microservices architecture • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines • Hands-on experience with distributed storage systems (NFS, HDFS, Ceph, S3) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Mesos, Yarn) • Practical knowledge working with major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) • Proactive problem-solving approach with ability to identify performance bottlenecks • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations • Strong understanding of DevOps CI/CD principles and security best practices (SecDevOps) Desired: • Proven track record in technical engineering and DevOps roles • Strong programming skills that extend beyond basic scripting • Experience with Terraform infrastructure as code preferred • Working knowledge of Wildfly application server and comparable platforms • Proficiency with Bamboo or other continuous integration tools • Hands-on experience using Rundeck or GitHub Actions for automation Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000 per year base salary, when annualized Pay Transparency Notice: The salary range is based on the D.C. metro area, the successful candidate's starting salary will vary depending on permissible, non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, and experience.
