Job description Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer Location: Bloomington, MN Hours: Full-time, M-F, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm This position is responsible for the installation, support and maintenance of hardware and software solutions supported by DTS. Emphasis on this position will be server and network support. You will provide professional technical support of servers, networks, and desktops to our MSP clients. Support will be provided over the phone, via remote desktop and at the client site. You will work with and without direct supervision in the office and in the field to ensure superior customer service. The successful candidate will possess a diverse technical background with the expertise to support solutions that meet the technology requirements of our valued customers. Duties include: • Installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining desktop, server, and network equipment. • Installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools. • Supporting desktop, server, and network environments via remote desktop and at the client site. • Supporting 3rd-party software, including implementation and ongoing maintenance. • Maintaining and supporting customer security posture, backup solutions and strategies, and disaster recovery plans. • Working with solutions architects to assist in designing and implementing customer environments. • Coordinating with vendors and other IT personnel for troubleshooting and problem resolution. • Serving as a primary technical resource for customer cloud infrastructures, including general support, migrations, backups, and other related technologies and features. • Acting as a mentor to junior-level IT technicians and engineers. • Maintaining a professional appearance and always promoting a positive company image. • Performing other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management personnel as required. Requirements: • Constant use of computer including keyboard and mouse. • Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. or less. • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time. • Ability to position self under desks and in the server closet to maintain computers, servers and network hardware. • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with customers. • Strong documentation skills are a must. • Must have a valid state driver's license and appropriate insurance coverage. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred or Associate's degree and/or industry certification in an applicable IT field. • 10+ years of professional IT experience is preferred. • 5+ years of IT managed services experience is preferred. • Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS cloud experience is preferred. • Intermediate to advanced-level understanding and experience with the Microsoft Windows Server operating system and related technology stack is required. • Intermediate level understanding of core networking concepts such as cabling standards, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, NAT, and SSL/IPsec is required. • Experience with networking products from vendors such as Cisco Meraki, SonicWall, Sophos, Fortinet, and other SMB-aligned vendors is preferred. • Experience with server and storage products from vendors such as Dell-EMC and HP Enterprise is preferred. • Experience in using and general support of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 is required. • The ability to identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex infrastructure issues is required. • The ability to create technical documentation that is both detailed yet concise is required. • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively both via e-mail and in-person. • A positive, customer service-oriented attitude is required. • The ability to work individually and as a team. • Network+, CCNP, Microsoft-related, or other industry-related certifications are preferred.
